The SMAWL Pet Food Pantry was established as a resource for needy families to acquire pet food and little for their pets during temporary financial difficulties in an effort to keep companion animals with their families. The SMAWL Pet Food Pantry would not be possible without the support of St. Mary’s County’s Department of Public Safety’s Animal Control Division.

Donations are accepted at the PETCO stores in California, Prince Frederick, La Plata and Waldorf.

Donations are also accepted at the Pepper’s Pet Pantry (a SMAWL sponsor) located in Callaway; they also generously donate all food and litter that cannot be sold in their stores (such as torn bags or dented cans) to the SMAWL Pet Food Pantry.

If you have a retail store and would like to donate your unsalable food and little please send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will make arrangements for pick-ups.

Donations can also be delivered to Animal Control. Cash donations for the SMAWL Pet Food Pantry can be mailed to PO Box 1232, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Please note that the donation is designated for the SMAWL Pet Food Pantry.

SMAWL is now partners with ResQThreads. People can visit their site at; at checkout, select SMAWL from the list of rescue partners and SMAWL will receive a percentage of your purchase.
