The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League is a nonprofit, rescue organization that specializes in the rescue, care and placement of abused, neglected and homeless companion animals. Our animals are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and receive medical treatment before being placed in carefully selected homes. We strive to educate the community in areas of humane education and responsible pet ownership, as well as helping to control the pet overpopulation in our area by promoting the spaying and neutering of all companion animals.
Did you know that an average of 390 cats and dogs are euthanized in our community each month?
St. Mary's Animal Welfare League, would like to invite you to participate in the local event for Remember Me Thursday, a national night of remembrance for the healthy companion animals euthanized each year simply because they are homeless. The event will be held at 6:30pm next Thursday, Sept. 25th in front of the SMAWL Cat Castle located in Callaway Village shopping center.
There will be a few short words and they will light luminaries to represent the 390 (average) cats and dogs euthanized in our community each month.
They will also open their cat adoption center to the public that evening from 7-9 in case anyone is inspired to adopt!
